Meet The Founder

Hi, I’m David — founder of Hotshot Fire Protection and a proud San Diego native.

My 41-year firefighting career began with the U.S. Forest Service in the Cleveland National Forest, where I served as a member of an elite Hotshot crew. During those years, I gained firsthand experience battling wildland fires in some of the most challenging terrain and conditions. I later continued my service with the Department of Defense as a civilian firefighter, where my responsibilities included structural fire protection, aircraft crash and rescue, submarine firefighting, emergency medical response (EMT), and ambulance transport.

Throughout my career, I have witnessed the devastating impact wildfires have on families and communities. I have gone door to door evacuating residents ahead of advancing fire fronts — experiences that reinforced the importance of preparation, education, and proactive protection.

My lifelong passion for backpacking and wilderness travel further strengthened my understanding of weather patterns, terrain, and fire behavior — knowledge that directly informs the protection strategies I provide today.

With decades of frontline experience and real-world insight, my mission is to help homeowners strengthen their properties, reduce risk, and protect what matters most — their families and their homes.
